ZbigZ – All to Know or Why You Shouldn’t Use it

As a technology expert, I’ve used hundreds if not thousands of software, hardware, and online services designed to improve our digital lives. We have streaming services, torrents, VPNs, proxies, AI, and more that make our online activities interesting, fun, easy, and secure.

Well, ZbigZ is not one of them.

Yes, it works.

Yes, it is convenient.

But I can’t wholeheartedly recommend it.

Read below to find out why.

1. What is ZbigZ?

ZbigZ is a gateway for torrent downloading. It lets you download and manage torrents directly in the cloud. It’s supposed to eliminate the need for traditional torrent clients and offer an easy-to-use, web-based platform that simplifies the entire process.

I regularly download large files, and I had high hopes that ZbigZ can be a game-changer, for fast, secure, and anonymous downloads without the need for additional software.

2. How Does ZbigZ Work?

ZbigZ is very easy to use, I’ll give them that. All you need to do is register and then follow the steps below.

  1. Find your torrent. Start by searching for the torrent file or magnet link you wish to download.
  2. Upload to ZbigZ. Go to the ZbigZ website and upload your torrent file or paste the magnet link.
  3. Wait. ZbigZ will download the files from the torrent, storing them on its servers.
  4. Download your files. Once ZbigZ has your files ready, you can download them directly from the site.

This process is quite simple and in addition, you use ZbigZ’s IPs instead of your own. That way, you get an additional layer of anonymity.

3. Free or paid?

Now it gets interesting.

The free version is quite limited. You can’t download files larger than 1GB and the speed isn’t great. To get the most out of ZbigZ, you should get a subscription. There’s a variety of options to choose from.

The problems start when you pay for your subscription. There is no refund policy or money-back guarantee whatsoever. Support is also practically non-existent.

However, if you decide to purchase a paid plan (at your own risk), in theory, you’ll get the following benefits.

  • faster download speeds
  • larger storage capacity
  • download files without any size restrictions

4. ZbigZ: The Pros and Cons

As a ZbigZ user, I’ve tried and tested its features, benefits, and limitations firsthand. Don’t get me wrong, my experience wasn’t the worst. The service works as expected.

However, like any service, it comes with its advantages and drawbacks. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the pros and cons of ZbigZ.

a. Pros

1. User-friendly interface.

ZbigZ offers a straightforward and intuitive interface, making it accessible even for those new to torrenting. This ease of use is a significant plus in my book.

2. No additional software is required.

This is arguably the biggest benefit of using ZbigZ. This saves space on your device and simplifies the downloading process since you can do everything in your web browser.

3. Anonymity.

By using ZbigZ to download torrents your IP address remains hidden. This is great for privacy-concerned users.

4. Accessibility.

With ZbigZ, you can access your files from anywhere, on any device with internet access. This cloud-based approach makes the website convenient, which you don’t get with traditional torrent clients.

b. Cons

1. Free version limitations.

While ZbigZ offers a free version, it comes with limitations such as restricted download speeds, file size caps, and storage time. These are a significant drawback for heavy users.

2. Slow speed.

Speeds are limited in the free version, but even if you have a subscription you won’t be able to download at high speeds. In my case, my base speed is around 80 Mbps and ZbigZ was downloading at 1.6 MB/s. So convenience aside, I’d suggest using a faster service if you are downloading large files.

3. Privacy concerns.

Despite initially hiding your IP, ZbigZ stores your files on a third-party server. Some users may not feel comfortable with this. And even though ZbigZ claims your IP remains anonymous, you still use it to download your files when accessing the site.

If you are using the service nonetheless, I’d recommend you use a VPN to hide your real IP when accessing ZbigZ.

To summarize, ZbigZ offers a convenient solution for torrent downloads, with a free version and some security.

However, you should consider the free version’s limitations and unstable speeds.

5. ZbigZ Reviews: What Users Are Saying

After my unsatisfactory experience with ZbigZ, I decided to check what other users’ opinions were.

I wasn’t surprised by my findings. The latest ZbigZ reviews reflected what I experienced with the platform.

On Trustpilot, ZbigZ has a total of 2.4 stars (out of 5) with the most recent user reviews being 1 star for the lack of support and non-activated premium accounts. Keep in mind that only paying via credit or debit card activates the premium account automatically. All other payment options require a manual upgrade from the support team, which, as said earlier – is non-existent.

On Mouthshut, ZbigZ has a 2.2-star rating (5 being the max) from 178 votes. The complaints are mostly the same – no support whatsoever, slow speeds, and no premium upgrades after payment.

All of this is quite concerning, so I wouldn’t recommend anyone using ZbigZ let alone paying for a premium account.

That said, I’d suggest trying another service that you can rely on.

6. ZbigZ Alternatives

While ZbigZ offers a convenient and user-friendly platform for downloading torrents directly to the cloud, it’s not flawless. Thankfully, it’s not the only service available that offers this convenience. Here’s a closer look at some of the most notable ZbigZ alternatives.

1. RapidSeedbox

Rapidseedbox

RapidSeedbox is a high-performance seedbox that offers torrent downloads and much more. It’s designed for those who prioritize speed, security, and privacy in their torrenting activities.

  • Pros. RapidSeedbox stands out for its exceptional speed, so users can download and upload torrents at high rates. It offers robust security features, including a dedicated IP address and fully encrypted data transfer, for absolutely private torrenting activities. Additionally, RapidSeedbox provides ample storage space, making it suitable for users with extensive media libraries. It also supports streaming directly from the seedbox.
  • Cons. The premium features of RapidSeedbox come at a higher cost compared to basic torrent cloud services. While it offers excellent value for the features and performance it delivers, the pricing may be a deal-breaker for casual users or those on a tight budget. Furthermore, the sheer number of features and customization options might be overwhelming for beginners, and it will require a learning curve to use it at its maximum potential.

2. Bitport.io

Bitport.io is a cloud-based torrent downloader that focuses on anonymity. It allows users to download torrents directly to their personal cloud storage, which is accessible from anywhere.

  • Pros. The platform offers SSL encryption for all connections, which makes your downloads secure and private. It also provides a built-in video player for streaming video files directly from the cloud.
  • Cons. The free version has limited storage and download slots, pushing users towards its paid plans.

3. Seedr

Seedr is another popular cloud torrent service that is easy to use and fast to set up. It can both download and play torrent files.

  • Pros. Seedr is quick and easy to use. It also comes with a generous free tier that offers enough features for casual users. It also allows for high download speeds.
  • Cons. For more storage and features, you’ll need to upgrade to a premium account, which is a bit pricey for most users.

4. Put.io

Put.io is a multifunctional service that combines torrent downloads with cloud storage and streaming capabilities. It targets users looking for an all-in-one solution.

  • Pros. Put.io supports various file types and integrates with many streaming devices and services. It also offers a good amount of cloud storage space.
  • Cons: The service is quite expensive. There is no free tier as well. You can try it for $0.99 for one day, but the paid plans cost $9.99 or $19.99 per month depending on the storage. This price tag makes it one of the more expensive options on this list.

5. Offcloud

Offcloud offers a very good suite of services, including torrent downloading, direct downloads, and cloud backup functionalities.

  • Pros. You can automate downloads, fetch data from the web, and integrate with several cloud storage providers. It works with torrents, streaming services, Usenet platforms, and more.
  • Cons. As it’s quite complex, it can be overwhelming and difficult to use for people who prefer a straightforward torrent downloading service.

7. How to Choose the Best ZbigZ Alternative?

Naturally, choosing the right ZbigZ alternative depends on your specific needs. Before committing to any of the services, consider the following:

  • What is the level of security you require?
  • How much storage do you need?
  • Are you looking for additional features like streaming or cloud backup?

Each of these services has its pros and cons. I summarized them for your convenience. As an experienced user, I have too many requirements, but that might not be the case for you. I recommend trying out a few of these alternatives to see which one aligns best with your downloading habits and preferences.

8. Final Words

To sum up, ZbigZ offers a convenient approach to torrent downloads.

Its user-friendly interface, combined with an additional layer of anonymity made it a go-to choice for many users. However, it’s not the best service out there, and if you’ve read everything above, you already know why. All in all, I’d suggest choosing an alternative.

On the bright side, if you don’t care about speed and you need to download files smaller than 1GB, then ZbigZ is a decent and easy-to-use platform.
